Oluwatoyin A. Olorunleke

Registrar, Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers.

Oluwatoyin Olorunleke took over as Registrar & Chief Executive of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS) in March 2007. 

He joined CIS in August 2004 as Assistant Director and Head of Membership and Student Affairs and was promoted to Deputy Director in June 2005.

Oluwatoyin, a graduate of Economics, was educated at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. In recognition of his outstanding academic qualities, he was awarded a university scholarship from 1977 to 1980. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria as well as of the Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners of Nigeria.

He trained at Deloitte, Haskins and Sells International, Lagos, Nigeria (now merged with Akintola Williams, Deloitte and Touche) and qualified as a chartered accountant in 1984. He distinguished himself in the ICAN examinations by winning the First Place Merit Award in all the three levels of the examinations in the November of 1982, 1983 & 1984.

He moved to International Merchant Bank (Nigeria) Limited in 1985 initially as an Analyst and then as Assistant Manager before joining Citi Trust Merchant Bank Limited in 1989 as a Manager. He was promoted to the post of an Assistant General Manager in 1991.

Before setting up his public accounting practice in 1994, Oluwatoyin worked at First Securities Discount House Limited, the first discount house in Nigeria, where he headed the Operations Department as Assistant General Manager. As the managing partner of Toyin Ogunnaike & Co, he worked with many companies and state governments in a wide variety of roles including audit, taxation, business advisory, insolvency and business recovery and accounting services.

He was actively involved in the Institute affairs for some years as a member of the Education Committee.

Oluwatoyin is married with two children.
